| Obituary taken from London Times |
[May. 1st, 2009|08:43 am] |
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and Maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home because the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights I Want It Now Someone Else Is To Blame I'm the Victim
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing. |

| I'm in love with Jennifer Hudson |
[Feb. 2nd, 2009|08:57 am] |

Yes, I was the one calling her number on the screen when American Idol asked me to vote for my favorite contestant that year. I was the one that smiled when she got the part of Effie in "Dreamgirls". I was the one that jumped on my bed when she won the Academy Award. Oh yes, I said jumped on my bed. I was the one that was excited to see what she would do with her new role as Louise in the movie "Sex and the City".
Then, I was the one with my hand over my mouth when I learned of the tragedy that happened to her mom, brother and nephew. Here was a kid, who just took Hollywood and America by storm, torn into pieces in 1 day. And in a manner that still makes me ill to this day just thinking about it. Who could do such a thing?
Having lost my mother recently I could easily relate to her pain. I can only imagine what her mind and heart are going through since no one yet has been brought to justice for these horrific crimes.
Last night I saw a completely different Jennifer Hudson singing our National Anthem at the Super Bowl. She stood tall and shared with us an amazing, moving rendition of our song. She's still hurting. It was obvious. But she performed like I have never seen her before. She's not a kid anymore. She's all woman now.
So may I just say: thank you Jennifer. Thank you for sharing your passion with all of us tonight. Your courage and strength was heard in full tune and will not be forgotten any time soon. From the bottom of my heart, I love you. God bless you. And may the light in your eyes tonight show you the way to unlimited happiness for you and your family always.
Much love, Debbie |

Dr Pepper to deliver on its free-soda promisePublished: Nov 20, 2008 LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dr Pepper is making good on its promise of free soda now that the release of Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" is a reality. The soft-drink maker said in March that it would give a free soda to everyone in America if the album dropped in 2008. "Chinese Democracy," infamously delayed since recording began in 1994, goes on sale Sunday. "We never thought this day would come," Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "But now that it's here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us." Beginning Sunday at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site. They'll be honored until Feb. 28.

So as a paying fan of the New York Mets, I'm allowed to bitch, wail, cry, scream and holla' at my team. Here's what went wrong in 2008 . . . I'm not blaming 1 thing, I'm blaming 2.
1. Willie Randolph (the manager they fired around June) and everyone who "couldn't" make hits at that time.

We didn't make the playoffs for the second year in a row because of ONE game. So these big players that claim they can't make a hit because of a manager is just bullshit to me!! If these guys were more faithful to the game and not the atmosphere of the locker room, WE WOULD BE in the playoffs. But politics ate them up.
2. Aaron Heilman and the rest of the fucking bullpin. Again, we only lost by one game. And Aaron lost 5 of them and couldn't do much for many more. In other words, the Mets were in the lead, he came in, and fucked it up for everyone. I hope to God he's gone next year. Cause I know he'll forever be booed at the new Mets stadium.
More to come . . .

Kim's moving so she's selling stuff. If anyone wants anything please message her at http://www.myspace.com/sanityscalling
"Hey everyone,
I have a list of things I want/need to sell before I leave on Aug 16th.
If you are interested in any of these things, the money is going to the "Kim Going To College" fund, it'll be greatly appreciated :).
- I'm selling my Oakley Jacket's from back in the day. They are still in great condition. They are blue with red lenses. I believe they are polarized, unsure of that fact, been a while since I have used them. I'm asking $55 OBO for them. They sold back in the later 90's/early 2000's for close to $200 or more.
- I have a collection of over 550 baseball cards. I started getting value's on quite a few, most were around $2, had a few that got up to $45. Asking $175-$200 for them all.
- Also have a collection of over 100 1992 Topp's Desert Storm baseball cards. Most were valued at $5-$10 a card, with a couple at the $15-$30 range. Asking $200-$250 for them.
- Six 1991 U.S. Olympic Cards - Hall Of Fame Edition.
Ralph Boston Greg Louganis Wyomia Tyus Bob Richards Al Oerter Ray Ewry
Asking $50 OBO for them as a set.
- Two Powell skateboards, $45 each.
- North Face internal hiking pack. Bought originally for $200, selling for $125, never been used to camp or hike.
- 1977 Star Wars card collection. They are in pretty decent shape for going through the younger years of two boys (my brothers) and me lol. What I have seen on the internet is about $10-$15 a card, about $30-$50 in extremely good/packaged all their life condition. Like I said, these haven't been packaged, but don't look their age either. For the past twenty years they have been safely stored away. I'm not sure on if they are the complete sets or not, but I have the red, yellow, blue, purple and all sorts of styles of the cards. You'd have to see them to understand. The price of these will also be discussed.
- Collection of all my x-men cards for the early 1990's. Close to two hundred, asking probably $50-$75.
- Warn out couch, with slip cover, $25. If you want the love seat with it, probably another $15-$25... But you'd have to ask Polar on that one.
- All sorts of clothes, Hollister, Abercrombie, AE... My size though. $5-$10 depending on what.
- Two bikes, $40 each." |
